I woke to Jaken's lips on the back of my neck.
"Good morning."
"Morning," he said as he kissed me again.
His kisses distracted me up to the point when his hand covered my breast.
I moaned and it sounded more like a question, but not a protest. He stopped kissing me. I looked at him over my left shoulder.
"Don't stop."
He continued sliding his tongue up the curve on the side of my neck as his hands went from over my shirt to under it. He made no attempt to take it off.
I pressed into him. He groaned. I groaned back, loving the sound.
He pulled away, and as I leaned back, he looked into my eyes as his hand moved down my stomach and into my shorts. He rested his hand on my pelvic bone, and I said a silent pray of thanks for getting that wax the other day. I felt bad about praying for something like that, but then he touched me, and all I could think...
Oh, my God, that feels good.
I moaned and my head fell back. I closed my eyes and his fingers continued to do things to me I didn't know were appropriate for a man who made his living with his hands. He hit one spot with his middle finger and I gripped his hand.
"Please," I whispered.
"Please what?" he said, and his tone made me open my eyes, his breath hot on my cheek.
"Don't stop." He gave me that grin again, kissed my nose, and pushed his fingers deeper between my legs.
"You want to come for me, baby?”
We had our eyes locked on each other, and the way he spoke to me, I felt like I was doing this for him instead of the other way around. A sense of pride swelled in my chest as a sense of something else swelled in my center.
"Yes," I said.
"Okay, come for me." He commanded.
I knew it was his fingers. The blood had rushed to the area he manipulated with them, but I swear I could have come on command even if he wasn't touching me. His voice had that kind of power. My toes curled and my fingers dug into his forearm. A wave of whatever power orgasms were made of rushed over me.
"That's it, baby," he whispered in my ear as I came back to the here and now. He swung a leg over me, as his phone on the nightstand began to buzz. We both looked at it.
"Oh, you're kidding me," I said.
He started laughing as he rolled over and sat on the edge of the bed. He turned off the alarm and turned back to me.
"I'm sorry." He leaned over and kissed me. "I have a tee time. I have to go."
"Fine, leave me here in bed alone." I flopped back. "Again."
"Well, at least this time I finished what I started." He headed into to the bathroom chuckling.
"Then why do I want more?" I asked myself.

Praise for A New Season

"I loved how the backstory was leaked in a little at a time to keep you hooked up until the end.. it was just really perfect!" - Amber@WickedGoodReads

"Ok, I admit it: I just really enjoy a good sports romance. This is certainly that, but it's more too as the characters are nuanced and well developed. String writing and a very nicely done plot. Truly enjoyable and, of course, therefore recommended!" -The Mysterious Amazon Customer

Royally Raised (Royally, #4.5) by Emma Chase
SUMMARY

“He’s a joy to us. They all are. When they’re not busy giving us migraines.” ~King Henry

No one ever said raising children was easy...but raising a future monarch? That's another story all-together. Get a glimpse into the happily ever after of Wessco's irresistible royals in Royally Raised - a sweet, sexy, heartwarming short story set twenty years after Royally Matched.

MY REVIEW

About 20 years after the events of Royally Matched, King Henry is really worried about his eldest daughter and future Queen of his little Kingdom.

Princess Jane is well... very proud to be her.

She is spoiled, born blessed and sometimes very rude to her future subjects. It is Henry's job to advice her and make her understand that there are less fortunate people than her and she has to be more understanding.

Queen Sarah is still the best thing that happened to Henry. Both are extremely in love with each other and they consider themselves lucky and blessed for the children that they have raised and for their success as the royal couple.

A sweet short story for the newsletter's subscribers. Totally worth reading it and smiling goofily.

Royally Yours (Royally #4) by Emma Chase

Royally Yours (Royally #4) by Emma Chase
SUMMARY

Princess Lenora Celeste Beatrice Arabella Pembrook had an unusual childhood. She was raised to be a Queen—the first Queen of Wessco.

It’s a big deal.

When she’s crowned at just nineteen, the beautiful young monarch is prepared to rule. She’s charming, clever, confident and cunning.

What she isn’t… is married.

It’s her advising council’s first priority. It’s what Parliament is demanding, and what her people want.

Lenora has no desire to tie herself to a man—particularly one who only wants her for her crown. But compromises must be made and royals must do their duty.

Even Queens. Especially them.

**

Years ago, Edward Langdon Richard Dorian Rourke, walked away from his title and country. Now he’s an adventurer—climbing mountains, exploring jungles, going wherever he wants, when he wants—until family devotion brings him home.

And a sacred promise keeps him there.

To Edward, the haughty, guarded little Queen is intriguing, infuriating…and utterly captivating. Wanting her just might drive him mad—or become his greatest adventure.

**

Within the cold, stone walls of the royal palace—mistrust threatens, wills clash, and an undeniable, passionate love will change the future of the monarchy forever.

Every dynasty has a beginning. Every legend starts with a story.

This is theirs.

MY REVIEW

Queen Lenora gets her book!

NO WOMAN IS BORN A QUEEN, no matter the title attached to her name at birth.
Kings are crowned. But queens . . . queens rise.

The book tells the story of her first years of her life until she was about 20 years old,
how she became a queen,
how she fell in love.

Lenora became a queen before she became a woman and fell in love with Edward before she even met him.

Edward Rourke is the most exciting man I’ve never met.

I think this is the most sentimental heartfelt story of the series. A swoon-worthy fairy-tale.

My Edward . . .
A voice whispers in my head—it’s the first time I’ve thought of this man I’m going to marry as mine.
Mine.
What a lucky girl I am.

Royally Endowed (Royally, #3) by Emma Chase

Royally Endowed (Royally, #3) by Emma Chase
SUMMARY

Logan St. James is a smoldering, sexy beast. Sure, he can be a little broody at times—but Ellie Hammond’s willing to overlook that. Because, have you seen him??

Sexy. As. Hell.

And Ellie’s perky enough for both of them.

For years, she’s had a crush on the intense, gorgeous royal security guard—but she doesn’t think he ever saw her, not really.

To Logan, Ellie was just part of the job—a relative of the royal family he’d sworn to protect. Now, at 22 years old and fresh out of college, she’s determined to put aside her X-rated dreams of pat-downs and pillow talk, and find a real life happily ever after.

The Queen of Wessco encourages Ellie to follow in her sister’s footsteps and settle down with a prince of her own. Or a duke, a marquis…a viscount would also do nicely.

But in the pursuit of a fairy tale ending, Ellie learns that the sweetest crushes can be the hardest to let go.
***
Logan St. James grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, in a family on the wrong side of the law. But these days, he covers his tattoos and scars with a respectable suit. He’s handsome, loyal, brave, skilled with his hands and…other body parts.

Any woman would be proud to call him hers.

But there’s only one woman he wants.

For years he’s watched over her, protected her, held her hair back when she was sick, taught her how to throw a punch, and spot a liar.

He dreams of her. Would lay down his life for her.

But beautiful Ellie Hammond’s off-limits.

Everybody knows the bodyguard rules: Never lose focus, never let them out of your sight, and never, ever fall in love.

MY REVIEW

To sweet crushes and slow burns.

When Nicholas met Olivia in the first book of the series, Logan met Ellie.

Logan was Nicholas’ bodyguard and apparently the man who trusted the most. Ellie was Olivia’s little sister who still went to school.

When Nicholas and Olivia fell in love and they went to Wessco, Ellie needed to stay back with her all the time drunk father to keep their little shop and to finish her studies. Nicholas asked the man who trusted the most i.e. our boy Logan to stay in New York and protect Ellie.

Ellie will develop a crush for Logan and Logan will notice it, but they will not act on it. Years will go by. Olivia and Ellie’s father will be finally sober and more content. Ellie will finish school and studies. And at some point Logan and Ellie will go back to Wessco so that Ellie can help her very pregnant sister. The Queen will interfere and she will try to make arrangements with the intention that Ellie can get a suitable husband.
And finally FINALLY, five years after they first met, Logan will confess Ellie his feelings.

We are talking about a really slow SLOW burn romance here. Logan and Ellie will have to test their feelings for many years, while the rest of the Royal families have their troubles and their moments of happiness.

I adored this book for a number of reasons:
- It was seriously funny. The scene where the dog ate the pies, made me cry from laughter. (“Bosco, noooooo!”)
- It has a royal theme which is not cheesy ,with a totally believable plot – at least for all of us the romantics. (A royal a wedding is a major event on any day, but when the royal getting married is the former Crown Prince who gave up the throne for an American girl he couldn’t live without? It’s a madhouse.)
-It has two really strong main characters who took off the Wessco Kingdom’s story and created their own, strong, unique story. Ellie has exceeded my expectations and she was not lost under Olivia’s strong personality. Logan is an exceptional case of a male character: proud, strong, protective, humble, easygoing, ready to kill and be killed for his beliefs and for the people he loves.
-It has the bodyguard theme that falls in love with the rebel girl. One of my All-Time favorite themes.

I read this book during my summer holidays and I could not have chosen a more suitable book in order to have a great time!

Note: I really did not like it when Nicholas left his throne to marry Olivia. I thought it was not fair and I believed there could be no suitable king for Wessco other than Nicholas. I somehow felt a bit better when Nicholas confides to Logan that he has never regretted it:

“Besides, when it’s all said and done . . . I’m still a prince and you can still kill anyone in the room with your bare fucking hands. So . . .” He taps his bottle to mine, “cheers.”

ABOUT L. MOONE

Realistic characters, pure emotions, true passion. Everything I write is about the characters: how they interact, what’s going on in their heads, how the passionate relationship develops and affects them. I don’t believe in keeping things hidden, or dressing them up just for show. Some of my characters are potty-mouths, most of them are less than perfect (yes, even physically). I aim to write a happy ending for all of them, without keeping anything behind closed doors.

Royally Matched (Royally, #2) by Emma Chase

Royally Matched (Royally, #2) by Emma Chase
SUMMARY

Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to help her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora agrees to give him "space"—but while the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world's most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit... and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.

MY REVIEW

Another royal road to true love?

Henry is bored and he hates that he has to take the place of Nicholas on the throne. He does not want to be a King. He has always been the irresponsible little brother, the playboy, the one who defied orders and protocol. He loves drinking and partying. The life at the palace is choking him. His grandmother, the Queen, is torturing him. She talks about responsibilities, she makes him study laws and history and she forces him to take decisions for the wellbeing of his subjects.

Poor Henry…. When the TV producer, Vanessa Steele, approaches him with a proposition about a reality show in which he will choose his future Queen between 20 beautiful royal girls, at first he laughs. Later on, he agrees for no particular reason besides boredom.
Sassy Penelope will be one of these girls in the show. Lady Sarah Von Titebottum, her sister, will try to avoid her obligations and she will be Penelope’s assistant in the show.

“And what about you? Is there any wild in you, Teet-bottom?”
My cheeks go up in flames. “Not even a little. I’m the boring one. The good one.”
His teeth scrape his lower lip and it looks . . . naughty.
“Corrupting the good ones is my favorite pastime.”

This is how Henry introduces himself to virginal bookworm Sarah. Sarah is clever and she likes reading historical romances and classical love stories: Emily Brontë, Charlotte Brontë and Jane Austen. She knows what kind of guy Henry is. He is charming, handsome, cocky, sure of himself, a real prince. It will be the easiest thing for him to shatter her sensitive heart. Anyway, he has already warned her.

Henry and Sara have met before. In “Royally Screwed”, Sarah and her sister Penelope met with Nicholas, Olivia and Henry at a tavern. Nicholas was really interested in shy Sarah – even from that time.

“Lady Sarah. Pity—she could be pretty, if she didn’t dress like a monk in drag."
...
“I wouldn’t mind getting a peek at what’s under Miss Sense and Sensibility’s long skirt. With a name like Titebottum, it must be good.”

At the secluded castle, as the show proceeds, Henry and Sarah become best friends. They share secrets, intimate moments, feelings. They talk about loss and pain. They sleep together, because it is the only way Henry can find peace. They will be together during night, but they will hesitate to talk about love. There are still doubts and worries about a common future.

Sarah is a nice girl. She is like a heroine from a historical book, like she has jumped out of the pages of a book and she has landed in the arms of playboy Henry. Henry is a guy who enjoys living in the present, but he has to compromise to understand Sarah.

I have to be honest; I have difficulties picturing them together. It was not like Nicholas and Olivia who clicked straight away. Sarah and Henry have to try so hard to be together and to grow up.
I was feeling exhausted just to watch them trying until the book finished. By the end of the book, I really missed the carefree Henry.

Henry... he is really a cute funny guy, but Nicholas is still the Prince (and King) of my heart... Truthfully, I am still gutted that Nicholas lost the throne because he followed his heart.

If Henry could change the archaic laws about virginity, Nicholas could definitely change the archaic laws about the royalty of the future Queen. I am not even sure why he chose to abandon his throne. He was born and raised to be a King.

So if there is a voting somewhere, I vote for Nicholas. I am sorry, Henry…

Excerpt

“Harden Handy,” I announce, holding out a hand to introduce myself. The woman who answers the door is built like a pinup girl—hourglass shape, pert breasts, and eyeglasses—but the tightness of her smile gives away her age as do the stripes of gray in her hair. I’d place her just above forty like myself.
“Nice place you have,” I say, noting the open-concept layout as I follow her. Clean lines, water-tone colors, a real beach house minus the beach. It’s Florida but not every home is on the coast. This is an older neighborhood, meaning the majority of the residents are old. I’m talking retirees and geriatrics, but not her.
“The issue’s in the bathroom,” she states, leading me down a hallway. I’m not a plumber by trade. I was formerly in construction, but the market in southern Florida is either feast or famine. To make ends meet, I began working odd jobs, handyman style.
I’m here as a favor, and I can see I’ve walked in on a mess—sink cabinet open and faucet handle missing.
“I was able to shut the water off myself yesterday,” she says.
“Looks good,” I lie. It looks like she broke the faucet. As I begin assessing the damage, she leans against the doorjamb.
“You know, I was surprised when Lana told me about you. You really are a legit handyman.”
I try not to flinch. I’d like to say I don’t know what she means, but I do. I helped a friend of mine a time or two and met Lana Blasen, her friend. Is she accusing me of something?
“I’m the real deal,” I tease, lowering for the base cabinet. My knees crack with the effort.
“So you’re a gigolo?”
I pause, the term startling, but I’ve been called worse.
“The sixties called. They want their word back,” I tease. She’s silent a second, and when I look up, I feel bad, as if I insulted her instead of her insulting me.
“I was just curious,” she says quietly, and now I feel extra bad. Slowly, I stand to my full height. I’m taller than her by half a foot at least. She’s barefoot but still dressed in a tight skirt and fancy blouse.
“It isn’t called that, or maybe it still is, if I were a male hooker or a player, or whatever, but I’m not like that.” I don’t know why I’m defending myself to this woman I don’t know, even if she is a friend of Lana’s. Maybe it’s been the most recent events. I’d been with the same couple a few times. They called me. James warned me to take on only the most stable of married couples or recommendations from others, and this couple was on shaky ground at best.
I’m a swinger. The third party at the table set for a threesome. But recently, I’ve been in a funk. The last scene broke me a bit, especially after the guy broke my nose. I don’t blame him. No husband wants his wife to say the other guy in the bedroom is better than him.
“I didn’t mean to offend you.” She pauses, reflecting on something near her feet, and then her expression changes as though she’s changed her mind about what she would say next. “I’ll be down the hall, if you need anything. My son is at his father’s tonight, so there’s no rush here. Take your time.”
I watch her walk away in that hip-hugging skirt and loose blouse, open an extra button close to her cleavage. Curious, she said. I’m curious about her, but she didn’t call for the handyman special, only this plumbing disaster.
An hour later, I have things temporarily fixed, but she needs a new faucet. “If I could show you what I did,” I suggest, interrupting her once I find her sitting at her dining room table. She nods, removing her glasses and I gaze down at them.
“Getting older sucks,” she teases. “They say the eyesight is the first thing to go.”
“You aren’t old.”
“I wasn’t fishing for a compliment,” she states, good natured but still self-deprecating.
“So if I tell you you’re beautiful, you’ll take it?”
She tilts her head as she stands to follow me to the bathroom. “If you aren’t a player, you are charming.”
Once back inside the bathroom, I explain, “You’ll need to turn the handle only this far or it will snap again. If you pick out a new faucet, I can come back and install it another day.”
She reaches for the handle to test it, and without thinking, I reach for her hand as well, covering it as we collectively twist the knob. Like a toaster dropped in a full tub, electricity ripples up my arm, the connection stronger than anything I’ve ever felt. We look at one another at the same time, and I’m certain she felt it as well, but she draws back, resting her body on the doorjamb again.
Her eyes search mine, and I know that look. The hungry curiosity of the forbidden. “Tell me how it works.” She doesn’t mean the faucet.
“This isn’t why I’m here,” I remind her.
“I know.” The sadness in her eyes squeezes at my chest.
“And Lana told you?” I question. I’m not upset Lana shared with others what I did for her and James, but it also isn’t friendly conversation.
“She only mentioned the basics. No details.”
“And you aren’t married? Boyfriend who can kick my ass?” Her eyes widen, taking in my size. I’m six feet one, solid and stocky, or so I’m told. I’d hold my own in a fight. The broken nose caught me off guard. “Are you upgrading to the handyman special?” I ask.
“Does it cost more?”
“Not a thing.” I laugh. “And that’s the first difference,” I joke.
She slowly smiles. The melancholy still in her eyes and her expression anxious.
“I start with an assessment of your needs. As this is a plumbing job, we can use this as the scenario.” My voice lowers, but I wink to relax her. “I’m going to ask you some questions, and you answer with your comfort level, guiding how far we go.”
She nods.
“I need you to verbally agree.” I typically have consent forms for legalese and understanding on both sides, but I’m making an exception here. She isn’t a regular at this.
“Yes, Mr. Harden.”

I smile at the formality. “You can just call me Andrew.”

Author Bio

Lana Brazen is the alter ego of a bestselling contemporary romance author who believes romance doesn’t need to end just because you crossed over forty. In a fantasy life, she was an anthropologist, a journalist and a world-famous novelist on the level of F. Scott Fitzgerald. None of that has happened. Instead, she’s written over twenty romances, mothered four children and remains with the one and only. Sometimes, she likes things a little hotter, spicier, raunchier than contemporary trysts, and so begins this chapter.
