BOOK COVER REVEAL: Virulent Folie á Deux – Book One by Dani René & Yolanda Olson

Virulent

Folie á Deux – Book One by Dani René & Yolanda Olson Publication Date: December 4, 2018 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance
We've always been different. Normal is something that's bored us from the moments we were spit into this world, screaming and crying, wondering why we were dispelled from the sanctity of the darkness we both crave. I guess in a way, it's made us stronger than we thought we were. Especially now since we have each other. I’d do anything for her and she would do anything for me. Lie. Cheat. Steal. Kill. We were never meant to be together, but the universe has a way of taking two completely different disasters and putting them together to let destruction reign freely. Our story is born of violence, deceit, and mischief, but it’s one you won’t soon forget. Welcome to the world according to Pike & Molly. *Warning: This is an extremely dark, taboo story. There are numerous triggers throughout the story.

Aubrey’s trust is shattered. A year ago his wife tried to assassinate their new queen in his name, a betrayal of everything he believes in. And now an attack on his life is proof the dark conspiracy is not yet over. Although injured and weak, Aubrey can’t help but be drawn to this shy assassin and loyal protector. Xanthe is everything Naida wasn’t, and the passion she stirs in him is something he thought had long passed him by.

Aubrey and Xanthe

Xanthe is an assasin/guardian for the fae court and she works for Niniane and Trago. We met her at Devil's Gate.
Chancellor Aubrey was going to be a king if Niniane did not accept becoming a queen. As we have seen in Storm's Heart, Aubrey is a good person while his wife was evil and she was plotting against Niniane. Now his wife is dead and he does not plan to have another one until he meets Xanthe.
Xanthe is assigned to him by Niniane for protection and after a brutal attack, the two of them will spend a lot of time together at Xanthe's cottage until Aubrey recovers.
Aubrey does not hide his interest in Xanthe, while she thinks that she is not good enough for him:

Don't play with me just because you're bored.

Aubrey feels too old and tired, but he finds Xanther irresistible:

I'm falling in love with you. And damn, it's a deep deep fall.

This is a slow burn romance that takes place in the Dark Fae Realm. It is so sweet and beautiful the way the love grows. It should definitely have had to be a longer novel, but still it is engaging and heartwarming.

SUMMARY

When it comes to love between a medusa and a Vampyre, it’s every man, woman, and snake for themselves…

A Novella of the Elder Races

As a coroner, medusa Seremela Telemar has always felt more comfortable chatting over a dead body than over drinks. But when her wild niece, Vetta, runs off to Devil’s Gate, a lawless town that has sprung up overnight in a modern-day gold rush, she knows she has to extricate her before the rebellious girl gets into real trouble. Though she’s confident in her head snakes’ ability to defend her against attackers, Seremela is still a bit nervous about braving this modern-day Wild West by herself.

Vampyre Duncan Turner is not about to let his new co-worker go into that chaos alone. His Vampyric power and lawyer smarts make him the perfect ally, and the fact that he already had his eye on Seremela for more…personal reasons, doesn’t hurt matters. Any romantic thoughts pull up short, however, when they arrive at Devil’s Gate and learn Vetta is set to hang by morning.

In order to save Vetta and themselves, Seremela and Duncan are going to have to fight fire with force and magic with fangs. And pray they make it out of Devil’s Gate alive.

MY REVIEW

35588120Duncan and Seremela
During the last scene of "Natural Evil" a girl steals a pack of tarot cards from Claudia who does not really care about them because she is busy running away with Luis.

That girl was Vetta, the restless niece of Seremela Telemar, the medical examiner who works for Carlin and Rune. Seremela is also a medusa i.e. a monster from the greek mythology who instead of hair, she has little snakes on her head. Usually medusas are the bad guys in books. In this case Seremela is a very nice girl who really cares for her niece.

So, when Vetta gets into trouble at Devil's Gate, Seremela runs to her rescue.
Devil's Gate is a magical place where people gain money mostly from gambling. You can say it is an alternative Las Vegas, much more dangerous and dark and full of magical beings from the Elder races.

Duncan is a vampire lawyer who also works for Rune and Carlin and he is very interested in Seremela. So, he will not hesitate to go with her and help her. The danger will bring love sparkles and we will officially see the first and only mating between a medusa and a vampire.

The little snakes on Seremela's head behave like pets and definitely steal the show. And they truly like Duncan.

Duncan began to laugh as her snakes wrapped around his neck and his upper arms.
